About Uttarapath

Uttarapath - a magazine of art, literature and culture. It is the first Bengali Magazine and published in Gothenburg since last 29 years. At the beginning name of the magazine was Uttar Prabashi. Before DTP system started, Uttar Prabashi was published in Hand written. From 1986 it has changed name to Uttapath form Uttar Prabashi. Changing of name was happened for some unavoidable reasons. From 1986 Uttarapath was published in three different languages (one issue in Bengali, one issue was in English and Swedish), and it was a quarterly magazine until 1999 and presently Uttaparth has only Bengali issue, and since last 2007 printed in Calcutta. The mission of Uttarapath is to continuously cope up with the contemporary Bengali literature and publish them for the reader in abroad.

  2. Sir,
This is Dr. Bhumika Kanjilal, Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy, Durgapur Government College, West Bengal, India. I would like to publish an original paper in your magazine Uttarapath on Philosophical Health. The issue Philosophical Health is currently being propagated by Dr. Luis De Miranda, Uppsala University Sweden. I would be translating the matter in bengali, though if there are options of publication in English then that would be great. Please let me know the guidelines for the publication.

A small piece of information that I would like to share with you is, my father, was a poet. His name was Ashoke Chattopaadhyaay. He and Nobonita Debsen was once awarded by Uttar Probashi( as the name of your magazine used to be). He was awarded for his book 'Egale'. If there are any old pics or any old archival documents in this favour please share them. I was small then and there are only faint memories of him being felecitated on stage with a silver memento ( a round silver dish/ platter) along with a written document/ certificate.

    Regards,
    Dr. Bhumika Kanjilal
